Team Big Jon

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Team Big Jon has raised more than $1.5 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Dana-Farber is one of the premier cancer specialists in the country. Since its founding in 1947, Dana-Farber has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.

In 2008, I rode in my first PMC, 200 miles of pedaling over 2 days from Sturbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts. Why do I ride? Simple: I ride in honor of my good friend Jon Weiss, who succumbed to kidney cancer, and for all those who fight this dreadful disease. Jon was a tremendous family man, loving husband, and top-notch attorney. For some awful reason, he left us way too early.

Over the years, Team Big Jon has grown to over 20 riders. In 2017 I completed the ride with my daughter Mina, who was a real champ in her first ride and crushed me to the finish line.

Over the past 38 years, PMC has raised more than half a billion dollars for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber. If you feel inclined, you can donate to Team Big Jon at
